Expert witness reports
Independent ergonomics expert witness reports for solicitors, insurers and medico-legal agencies. File-review opinions available across Victoria, NSW and Australia-wide.
Instructions are accepted from solicitors, insurers, WorkSafe agents (directly or through your preferred medico-legal agency), and other instructing parties who need an independent opinion on workplace ergonomics, workstation design, physical demands and related injury issues.
The deliverable is a clear, reasoned expert witness report suitable for briefing counsel and supporting proceedings or negotiations. Reports address the questions asked, the documents reviewed, methodology, findings and opinion — prepared to meet expert witness obligations.
Opinions may cover task analysis, workstation layout, force and posture demands, rest/recovery, and the relationship between documented work practices and the injury narrative in the brief. Reports stay within the expert’s area of competence and the questions asked.
Opinions are prepared by Elton Smith: AHPRA-registered physiotherapist · Cert IV OHS · Diploma of Quality Auditing · Business compliance · Diploma of WHS (in progress) · WorkSafe Victoria approved IME · 27 years’ clinical / occupational rehabilitation / workplace injury experience. Typical expert report turnaround is around two weeks from receipt of complete papers (sooner by arrangement where diary allows). Clinic-based IMEs are available in Melbourne; expert witness work is usually a file review and can be instructed nationally.
